More Single Women Buying Real Estate in the US
According to America’s National Association of Realtors, the number of single women buying real estate has grown by 50% in the past ten years.
The Association’s 2005 Profile of Home Buyers & Sellers shows that single and divorced women now make up 21% of the country’s residential real estate market, up from 14% in 1995.
This trend is largely due to the fact that more women are earning money independently, and can therefore afford to enter the market before marriage.
The proportion of the market belonging to married couples dropped has dropped from 70% to 61% since 1995, while the proportion of single male buyers remained unchanged at 9%.
